Project Overview

The $1.5B renovation of the Macdonald Block Complex, Ontario’s main government hub, modernizes the 1.7 million sq. ft. complex originally built in 1971. The project upgrades all major systems and office spaces to meet current safety, accessibility, and efficiency standards, while preserving key heritage features. Led by Infrastructure Ontario and delivered through a Public-Private Partnership (P3), the project is designed by WZMH Architects and constructed by PCL.

As BIM Manager, Mehrdad Kolour played a key role in ensuring efficient project delivery through:

  • Managing a federated environment of 28 Revit models across architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines for both existing and proposed conditions
  • Overseeing the integration of point cloud data into Revit for precise modeling of heritage elements
  • Implementing and maintaining the modeling standards across teams
  • Coordinating ongoing clash detection led by PCL using Navisworks, improving collaboration between design and construction
  • Supporting structured data workflows for future asset and facility management
  • Conducting regular model health analysis to maintain model integrity and performance
